Hi all,
We lost Buster, our Westie to Lymphoma about a month ago. He was four years and four months old! I have much sadness in my heart and resentment for some kennels who in-breed these dogs for their monetary gain. Lymphoma is genetic...not much in the way of a cure for it. A few thousand dollars only bought us a few months with this wonderful friend. (I'm getting misty writing about this!). Buster was robbed of a long life and this family was robbed of a true to the core, great dog. Westies are very special.
My wife and I went about finding another one and ended up with two - boy ('Mort') and girl ('Roxie'). They're seven and a half weeks old and full of mischief. This time we know the parents through more than an AKC number. These pups will be a chore to raise but a great pleasure at the same time. Two of them is double the pleasure! They are amazing and such a treat to watch! Buster would love this...
Thanks and happy to find this forum, Bill and Sandy C

Hi Bill
Glad to meet you in the Forum. It's a little quiet here, as you may have gathered. However, I always make a point of answering any new posts, I only wish the Forum had "taken off" a little more.
Sorry to hear about Buster, but glad you took the decision to add to your family again. Some people allow grief to cloud their judgment about welcoming in new deserving cases and faces to their home once more, and feel that they are betraying the memory of the departed one by replacing them.
Nothing could be further from the truth. I always say "New faces aren't replaces". They are separate entities with separate characters. We will always remember those who have passed on, and loving and caring for new babies (for that's how it feels, especially where rehoming is concerned) is just one way of celebrating the lives of those who have gone before.
Mort and Roxie are two very lucky individuals, as they have obviously fallen on their feet, into a house full of love and cherished memories of Buster. You won't regret it.
I hope you will pop in occasionally to update the Forum on their progress. Good luck with them, and take care.
Best wishes
Lee.
And P.S. if you'd like to email me at photos@westie-world.co.uk with pictures of either or both of them (either .jpg or .gif are fine), I will feature them on the Photo Page in the main website.

Lee,
It has been a while since we have had the opportunity to post back. Mort and Roxie are much joy and we spend a lot of time with them.
Mort has grown to about 25 lbs and Roxie is about 16 lbs. We feed them a raw diet and they are full of pep and energy. They have great dispositions and much playfulness, sometimes very reckless!
Raising these two from pups has been quite an experience. The Vet calls them our 'kids' and that's not far from the truth. There is much satisfaction having them near by. They are very special too.
Buster is still there in our hearts.
Bill and Sancy C.

Hi Bill
That's great. I knew it would work out fine for you and your 'kids'!
The offer to publish photos of them still stands. Just email picture files to photos@westie-world.co.uk, and I'll get them featured on the website.
Best wishes
Lee.
